Mastery Books are a type of use item. For nearly all classes, many of the 4th Job skills can initially only be trained to level 10 with SP. However by using Mastery Books, the player can raise the maximum allowed level of their skills.
In pre-Big Bang versions mastery books were very specific and some were better than others, making the odds of obtaining the right one very slim. However as of MapleStory: RED a new type of Mastery Book was introduced. These Mastery Books when used allow you to increase the max trainable level of a skill from 10 to 20, and then from 20 to 30 (if the skill's max level allows for it to go that high).
