Hilla is one of the commanders of the Black Mage, and formerly one of the chief shamanesses of Azwan, an ancient city lost in the desert.

Hilla was revered by the residents of Azwan for her beauty, taking pride in the adoration she received. However, her beauty started to fade as she aged. While nobody else had noticed at first, her desire to stay beautiful corrupted her heart, allowing the Black Mage to appear to her.

Eventually, she overwhelmed by greed and handed over Azwan to the Black Mage in exchange for eternal power, youth, and beauty. The citizens of Azwan that once sang her praises would now resent her, but Hilla didn't care as she had all that she desired. With the power of necromancy, Hilla would revive the deceased population of Azwan for her personal undead army.

Lucid is one of the Black Mage's commanders who has the ability to manipulate dreams. She sits atop of the Nightmare Clocktower in Lachelein.

Lucid was an elf from Elluel who used to be friends with Athena Pierce and Danika. Lucid first discovered her ability to manipulate dreams in a dream and realized she could control dreams to such an extent that her dreams could be mistaken as reality.

When the Black Mage was sealed by the five heroes, the freezing curse struck Elluel including Lucid. However, the curse didn't make Lucid asleep and it kept her awake for years because of her ability, driving Lucid to insanity.

She crossed paths with the Black Mage, who offered her more power and a new world. Lucid accepted the offer and with her new power, she broke free of the ice trapping her and brought her madness to the world.

When Lucid peeked into the Black Mage's mind to see the new world he promised, she was only able to see pure darkness. Shocked at the revelation that the Black Mage seemingly wanted to destroy everything, Lucid fled to the Arcane River and created Lachelein, the City of Dreams, where festivity never ends and happiness is eternal.
