Magicians are a part of the Explorers, they make use of magic, unlike the physical-attacking classes. Although they are physically weak and have low HP, magicians are one of the most supportive, popular, and highly recommended classes to take in MapleStory. They are highly respected, and are valuable for Party Quests, Boss Fights, hunting, etc. Magicians have extremely powerful Mobbing Skills as well as useful support skills.

Job Advancements

1st Job

Upon reaching Level 10, Beginners can go to the Magic Library which is located at Ellinia, where the player meets up with Grendel the Really Old. Talk to him and he'll advance one as a Magician.

2nd Job

Fire and Poison Wizard

Fire/Poison Wizard, commonly referred to as F/P Mage or simply Fire Mage, is one of the 2nd Job Advancements for the Magician. They do some of the best damage in this second job. Due to the elemental advantage they get when training on monsters who are weak to the fire property, such as the majority of monsters in the El Nath region.

Lightning and Ice Wizard

Ice/Lightning Wizard, often called I/L Mage or Ice Mage, are one of the 2nd Job Advancements for the Magicians. They are a more popular choice at the second job due to their mob attack, Thunder Bolt. However, excessive use of Lightning can be costly, as an I/L Mage would use more MP than a F/P Mage or Cleric, and more potions would need to be purchased to counteract this.

Cleric

Cleric is a type of Magician who use buffs and holy magic to not only help their teammates, but destroy their enemies as well. They have a skill known as Heal, which restores HP to all 6 party members and harms undead monsters. Due to this skill, Clerics have absolutely no need for HP potions. They also have MP Eater, which at a certain success rate, allows them to drain some of the monster's MP to fuel their own. With this, Clerics need fewer MP potions to sustain them.

3rd Job

Upon reaching level 60, go to Chief's Residence in El Nath and speak with Robeira. After talking to Robeira, head over to Holy Ground at the Snowfield, in order to be teleported to another dimension and defeat Grendel the Really Old's Clone to collect the Black Charm. Return to Robeira and exchange the Black Charm for the advancement to third job.

4th Job

Speak to the respective 3rd job instructor in El Nath to get a Recommendation Letter for the Fourth Advancement. Bring the Recommendation Letter to the 4th Job Instructor in Leafre: Valley of the Antelope (Top) for acknowledgement. Now, prove to the Instructor that you have what it takes for the 4th job advancement by getting the Heroic Star and Heroic Pentagon. You must hunt the Manon and Griffey to get the required items. When you are ready with the required items, go to your 4th job instructor to make your job advancement. Congratulations! You are now in 4th job advance class! You will be granted 3 Skill Points, 5 Ability Points, a Maple Hero Skill Book and 3 core skills
