Nicky Angler, also known as T-Boy, is a member of the Angler family and a cyborg created by his father, the founder of the Angler Company.

Story[]

Early Life[]

Nicky was originally a human boy who was adopted by Alter Angler and turned into a cyborg, alongside Senya, Cosim, and Laha using technology stolen from Odium. At some unknown point, Alter modified his programming such that he became naturally impulsive and power-hungry, though Nicky simply believed it to be his natural personality. Alter's detachment from his children gave Nicky a deep desire to make his father proud of him.

Reverse City Story[]

Shortly after the Gate of the Present was opened, a city from Earth was sucked into the Arcane River as a result of the three worlds converging. Nicky soon arrived at the city, calling himself T-Boy, and used his technology to turn the entire city upside down, causing the townspeople who had fused with the Erda beings to remain trapped underground. He then began harvesting the pure Erda of the Arcane River in order to collect power for Alter, whose power source had been destroyed in an explosion at Company headquarters. Shortly after, he met a human named Barr Granger and developed an uneasy friendship with him. Barr and his friends had spent some time helping many of the trapped humans escape through the gateway between the Arcane River and Earth, though Barr chose to remain behind when he realized that his survival books had received scathing reviews. T-Boy would often come to visit him and would occasionally drop hints about his plans.

When the Adversary first arrived in Reverse City, T-Boy greeted them and introduced himself as the most normal person in the city, though he added that no one would argue if he were to introduce himself as the most dangerous person in the city. He then used a gauntlet to lift the Adversary into the air and crush them with gravitational force. A girl named Rasol quickly arrived and told him to leave. Just as the gauntlet was about to overload, T-Boy casually turned the device off and called it a prank before leaving.

Soon after, the Adversary and Rasol went on a mission to stop T-Boy and entered his laboratory, where they discovered a gravity machine that burned Erda as fuel. They learned that T-Boy was using devices called extinction generators in order to create more Erda after the Arcane River had depleted, which would continue powering his gravity machine until it created a black hole. The Adversary then teamed up with Barr in order to stop T-Boy. The pair began heading to destroy the gravity machine, but T-Boy sent his drone in order to stop them. He also sent his drones to the refuge where the townspeople lived, but he discovered that Barr had already sent them away in order to disable the extinction generators. Irritated, T-Boy decided to destroy his gravity machine in order to blow up the city before crushing the Adversary with his gauntlet. Barr then shot T-Boy's drone, believing it to be unoccupied, after which he took a teleporter device from within the drone and then jumped off the edge of the city. As the city was upside-down, Barr fell upwards towards the sky and then used the teleporter to return back to Earth, just as the machine exploded safely in the atmosphere.

Unbeknownst to both Barr and the Adversary, T-Boy had personally been inside the drone that Barr had shot. With the bullet having grazed his face, T-Boy fled in his spaceship when he was contacted by his sister, Senya. Senya made fun of T-Boy, who told her not to tell their father about his failure. When Senya asked what they had thought about the Adversary, T-Boy replied that he believed that they would be able to use the Adversary for their plans.

Karote, the Unending Tower[]

Shortly after the Glory Guard foiled Senya's plans to seize control of the ancient superweapons buried underneath Hotel Arcus, the Seekers returned back to the hotel. With Karote having resurfaced with the fusion of Maple World and Grandis, Nicky's father believed that the tower could finally be completed and sent Nicky to masquerade as a Seeker in order to lure the Adversary to Karote. Following rumors about the tower, the Adversary, Neinheart, Belle, and Irena came to visit Nicky at Hotel Arcus, where he told them that the tower's completion was his father's dream. They also heard the legend of Karote, which was a self-building tower that endlessly raised itself into the sky until an unknown power would destroy it.

Believing that Karote held a clue about the Seal Stones, the Glory Guard allowed Nicky to escort them to the tower. Upon arriving, they found that the tower had nearly built itself to the top and witnessed how the mysterious power reduced it to rubble. As the group entered the the tower, the Adversary found a statue, which teleported them to a subspace that contained robotic guardians of Odium. The Adversary defeated the guardians, who called them a Vessel, and witnessed memories of the tower's creator. As they were a worthy Vessel, Karote built itself up at a much faster rate than usual in order to help them reach the top.

Soon, Karote reached its full height, but Neinheart began to grow suspicious about the memories of the creator, as he felt that the creator was a false Vessel who had manipulated them into reaching to top for him. Frustrated by their hesitancy, Nicky ran ahead to the top of the tower. As the others followed after him, Kalos appeared and deemed the Adversary worthy to enter Odium. However, he declared that Nicky was a false Vessel who had been created with stolen technology from Odium. Upon being confronted by the others, Nicky revealed himself as T-Boy and then hacked into Kalos before attacking the Adversary.

The Adversary managed to defeat Kalos, but their battle caused Karote to destabilize and fall. As he plummeted, Nicky suddenly felt his mind strangely clear after the fight. His walkie-talkie then began to ring, with his father calling him to ask about the status of the mission. Nicky joked that though he was adopted, he wondered whether that should be the first thing that his father should ask when he was falling to his death. At his father's silence, Nicky laughed that he was merely joking before confirming that the door to the laboratory had finally opened, and that since the elders had gone to the realm of the sages, they likely had no idea. He also noted that the Adversary was in bad shape as well, and that there wouldn't be any more obstacles in his father's way for a while. However, he added that he had failed to control Kalos and asked his father if he was disappointed in him. His father told him that he knew that Nicky could hack into Kalos and explained that he had been right in his belief, and so there was nothing to be disappointed by.

Nicky suddenly realized that his father had already known what would happen and demanded to know the truth, claiming that there was no need to hold back when he was about to die. He explained that he had been intoxicated by Kalos's power and asked whether his father had programmed his thirst for power and impulsiveness, knowing that it would lead to both Kalos and the Adversary's destruction without his father having to lift a finger, regardless of what would happen to his son. He explained that he had only come to realize the truth as he was dying, as he had previously thought that it had merely been his personality. He then asked whether his father had altered his personality after fixing him in the aftermath of Reverse City, or even before that. He realized that he was only a tool for his father and asked whether even his desire to make his father proud had been programmed into him. He begged his father not to lie to him, and to at least tell him that he was wrong, adding that they both knew that he would inevitably believe anything that his father said. After a pause, his father told him that he was proud of him.

Nicky then noticed the Adversary falling and told them that he had decided to tell them a secret. He revealed that he had met Gerand Darmoor once before when he had approached their family after the explosion of the Company's headquarters, where he had learned that Darmoor had planned to destroy the Adversary's Seal Stone from the beginning, long before they had even reached the end of the Arcane River. He then told the Adversary to go to Odium if they wanted to learn more about Darmoor's plans and told them to say hello to his father and Cosim. He then calculated an optimal trajectory and pushed the Adversary away from him into the arms of Cosim, who had just arrived. As he continued plummeting, he wondered whether what he was feeling was real or fake, though he realized that it didn't matter to him either way. He then realized that it hadn't all been a lie in the end, as he really had been thrilled.
