Buccaneer is a branch of the Explorer Pirate class. Upon reaching Level 30, an Explorer Pirate can become a Buccaneer by choosing to become a Brawler (Infighter in other versions) after completing the 2nd Job Advancement at Level 30. Their second job is Brawler / Infighter, their third job is Outlaw (Buccaneer in other versions), and their fourth job is Buccaneer (Viper in other versions).
The Buccaneer job branch is centered around punching enemies up close, as well as using specific ranged attacks from afar. They specialize in Knuckles as primary weapons and Wrist Bands as secondary weapons. Their job specialty skill is Energy Charge, which increases their speed and defense, as well as allowing for attacks to consume energy instead of MP. Upon learning Supercharge in 3rd job, it will also increase Attack Power, which is further enhanced with Ultra Charge. While in Energy Charge mode, certain attacks, such as Static Thumper, will simply gain extra damage, while other attacks will be enhanced with additional effects and different aesthetics, such as Octopunch, which gains 2 extra attacks in Energy Charge mode. The attacks Dragon Strike (4th job) and Power Unity (Level 160 Hyper Skill) will also be usable when charged, with the former casting a debuff on enemies to increase final damage and the latter increasing your critical damage up to 4 times over.
Like all other Explorer pirates, Buccaneers gain access to Nautilus Strike in 4th job; their version allows them to deal extra damage on enemies (a la Final Attack) when using Sommersault Kick, Corkscrew Blow, Spiral Assault, or Octopunch during Nautilus Strike's cooldown. Their second job is Brawler (Infighter in other versions), their third job is Marauder (Buccaneer in other versions), and their fourth job is Buccaneer (Viper in other versions).
1st Job Advancement
When the player reaches Level 10 as a Beginner, aspiring Pirates will be sent to the Navigation Room in the Nautilus to talk to Kyrin, who will advance the player to a Pirate. The player will be given an HP and MP boost, as well as a basic pirate weapon.
2nd Job Advancement
At Level 30, the player will receive a lightbulb on the side from Kyrin, who will send the player back to the Navigation Room. She will allow the player to choose to advance to either a Brawler or a Gunslinger; a player that desires to become a Buccaneer will want to advance to a Brawler. Kyrin will send the player to a special map to collect 30 Dark Marbles from the OctoPirates inside. Upon returning, she will advance you to a Brawler.
3rd Job Advancement
At Level 60, the player will receive a lightbulb on the side from Kyrin once again, who will teleport the player to the Chief's Residence in El Nath to speak with Pedro. He will teleport the player to the Dead Mine's Holy Ground at the Snowfield, where the player must click on the Holy Stone at the bottom of the map to enter another dimension. Once there, walk to the right portal to enter the Dimensional World and defeat Shadow Kyrin inside to obtain the Black Charm. Return to Pedro with the quest item in hand to advance from a Brawler to a Marauder.
4th Job Advancement
At Level 100, the player will receive a lightbulb on the side from Pedro. After speaking to him, the player must head to Leafre and venture to the Forest of the Priest, which can be accessed by walking to Valley of the Antelope 1 and entering the portal on the top right (indicated by a wooden face-like structure) to meet Samuel. He will give the player the task to obtain the Heroic Pentagon from Manon, Herald of Heroes and the Heroic Star from Griffey Herald of Heroes. Return to Samuel and speak to him again to advance from a Marauder to a Buccaneer.

- Buccaneers were a kind of privateers or free sailors peculiar to the Caribbean Sea during the 17th and 18th centuries. However, in-game his skills and behavior contradicts its name (at least in GMS), as they're influenced from super-powered martial artists like the ones shown in popular Anime such as Dragon Ball or One Piece.
- In every other regional version except GMS this class is called Viper. The name fits well as most of his 5th job skills have serpents in their design and animations.
